CLIFF’s Moataz Yakan Talaat presented his preliminary research at the European Conference of African Studies (ECAS), held in Cologne from 31 May to 3 June 2023, to the more than 1,970 delegates attending. His work focuses on development banks and the implications of their loans on financial intermediaries in the Global South. The presentation aimed to supplement the green debt colonial practices’ discourse with quantified and theoretical evidence of debt to financial institutions within the Global South.
