CLIFF’s Augusto Heras presented his preliminary research at the EADI CEsA General Conference 2023 Towards New Rhythms of Development, held in Lisbon, Portugal, from 10 to 13 July 2023. His work focuses on the role of Low- and Middle-Income Countries in Leaving Fossil Fuels Underground.
Within the Seed Panel 10 Contested pathways of development: crisis, social fragmentation, and sustainability in an interdependent world, Augusto presented the preliminary results of his systematic literature review co-authored with Prof. Joyeeta Gupta on the energy transition in the Global South, focusing on the issue of stranded resources and assets, the “bridge” narrative of fossil gas, and the need to better analyze uneven power relations involved in the transition
