Lorenzo Pellegrini
Professor of Economics of Environment and Development at the International Institute of Social Studiesm, Erasmus University RotterdamLorenzo Pellegrini, PhD is a Professor of Economics of Environment and Development at the International Institute of Social Studies (ISS) of Erasmus University Rotterdam, The Netherlands, and an Adjunct Professor at the University San Francisco of Quito, Ecuador. He received his PhD from the VU University of Amsterdam.
His research interests include the socio-environmental impact of extractive industries, environmental justice, policies to keep fossil fuels in the ground, impact evaluation, institutions and corruption. Recent publications have appeared in Nature Communications, World Development, Global Environmental Politics, Geoforum, Political Geography, The Extractive Industries and Society, and Ecological Economics. Countries of research experience include Bhutan, Bolivia, Ecuador, Honduras, India, Italy, Nicaragua, Pakistan, Peru, Rwanda, and Vietnam. Lorenzo has also led several participatory and action-oriented research projects in the Global South. He teaches courses on research methodology, development economics, development theory, sustainable development, and ecological economics.
