Associate Professor, Social Interaction in Public Spaces of Hogeschool Utrecht

Mario Veen is associate professor (hogeschoolhoofddocent) at Social Interaction in Public Spaces of Hogeschool Utrecht. His research focuses on how social interaction in the climate and ecological crisis can be constructive and realistic, specifically the role of professionals in these interactions. How can we facilitate social interaction that is rooted in science and physical reality, and results in effective climate policy? How do we build societal resilience against climate disinformation and science denial? What does it mean to be a professional in times of climate and ecological crisis?

Mario is an interdisciplinary philosopher who specializes in discursive psychology and other methods to analyze social interactions. Prior to working at HU, he completed a research master Cultural Analysis, a PhD in Discursive Psychology and Technology Assessment, and did research on the role of reflection and philosophy in medical education.
