Luis Scungio

Senior researcher SOMO

Luis Scungio is a senior researcher at SOMO, investigating corporate supply chain relationships and issues of accountability for a just, fair and equitable energy transition. His research interests include responsible disengagement from fossil fuels and extractivist business models that still dominate most of the transition mineral and carbon offset industries.

Luis has worked in the field of business and human rights since 2014, and developed ‘Follow the Money’ research skills that connect harmful agribusiness, infrastructure, and energy projects to global finance and consumer-facing brands. Before joining SOMO’s team in 2023, he worked as a freelancer for various civil society organisations, including grassroots and international NGOs in Southeast Asia, where he lived for four years.

Luis holds an LLM from the University of Galway, an MA in Political Philosophy from the University of Rome, and speaks English, Italian, Spanish, and French.
